LinkedIn SSI Score Explained: What It Measures and What It Is Worth

Updated 13 September 2026

The LinkedIn Social Selling Index is a 0 to 100 score built from four equally weighted pillars, each out of 25: establishing your professional brand, finding the right people, engaging with insights, and building relationships. You can see yours at linkedin.com/sales/ssi.

It is a useful diagnostic of habits and a poor measure of results. Read it as a checklist, not a scoreboard.

The four pillars

PillarOut ofMostly driven by
Establish your professional brand25Profile completeness, posting, and engagement your content receives
Find the right people25Searches run, profiles viewed, use of filters and lead lists
Engage with insights25Comments, shares and interaction with other people's content
Build relationships25Connections made and accepted, especially with senior people

The score updates daily and is calculated against your industry and your network, so the same behaviour can produce different scores for different people.

How to raise each pillar honestly

  1. 01Brand: complete every profile field, publish weekly, add a featured section.
  2. 02Right people: use search with real filters instead of scrolling the feed, and view the profiles of people you intend to contact.
  3. 03Insights: comment in sentences on 5 posts a day in your category, and share with your own commentary rather than bare reshares.
  4. 04Relationships: send fewer, better connection requests with a line of context, and reply to the ones you accept.

What a score actually means

  • Under 40: profile and habits both need work, start with the profile.
  • 40 to 60: typical for an active professional, usually limited by the engage pillar.
  • 60 to 75: consistently active, likely already seeing inbound.
  • Above 75: rare, and usually reflects daily use rather than better outcomes.

LinkedIn's own material associates higher SSI with more opportunities, but the direction of causation is obvious: people who do the work score higher and also sell more. The score is the shadow, not the object.

Frequently asked questions

Where do I find my LinkedIn SSI score?
Go to linkedin.com/sales/ssi while signed in. It is free and does not require Sales Navigator.
What is a good SSI score?
Anything above 60 puts you well ahead of most people in your industry. Below 40 usually means the profile or the engagement habit is missing.
Does SSI affect my reach in the feed?
There is no evidence SSI feeds into distribution. It measures behaviours that correlate with reach rather than causing it.
